Aldanish Rein as SCBA Candidate for the post of Joint Secretary

Aldanish Rein

ALDANISH REIN is appearing as prospective candidature for the post of JOINT SECRETARY in SCBA. He has been practicing in the Supreme Court since 2007 and is an Advcoate On Record since 2017. He was fortunate to be elected as a Member Executive for SCAORA in the year 2018 for a term of two years. He has closely followed the Executive Committees of SCBA and SCAORA for many years, with an ideology to bring in fresh perspective to the SCBA Executive Committee which he shall improve the earlier experiences of members and the Committee.

He is committed to stand as a transparent office bearer of SCBA and a helpful fellow colleague —someone who is approachable and friendly.

As the Joint Secretary of SCBA, he says he do not want to make false promises, but he wants to be voice of the masses, and introduce ideas that shall benefit members – for example-

  1. A dedicated place for our members who are Notaries and Oath Commissioners in Supreme Court on the lines of Delhi High Court to give them the much-awaited respect they deserve.
  2. A dedicated link on the SCBA website which shall have updated information related to various practice directions issued every other day by SC for the convenience of the members.
  3. There should have a list of Advocates who are Standing Counsel for States, departments etc. on the lines of the Delhi High Court, So that it is convenient for the members to effect service of matters upon them. The said list could be published on the SCBA Website or could request the Supreme Court to publish it on its web site.
  4. To seek advice of the senior members/ past EC members, both AOR and Non AOR’s on various issues especially before circulating any matter for Governing Body Members to avoid resentment amongst the members of the Bar and unnecessary embarrassment of postponing/ calling off the GBM.
  5. Every member in the EC should be allowed to speak freely and therefore the elected members of the SCBA should not have the right to remove any EC member by showing majority in the EC, rather it should be brought before the GBM for the members to decide if the concerned member warrants removal or not.
  6. SCBA EC is not an extended arm of any political party and therefore accepting a felicitation in the form of a lavish dinner organised by a sitting minister of a political party to felicitate the SCBA EC, as we have seen in the past, does not look neutral/ fair on the SCBA EC and therefore the same should not be accepted.
  7. SCBA always had this long standing demand for considering regular practitioners of Supreme Court for Elevation as Judges to the High Courts, but this doesn’t mean that the SCBA EC starts acting as a Sub-Collegium and starts recommending names (with due respect to the recommended members) to the Supreme Court on its own for elevation to various high courts.
  8. The Allotment of chambers has been a long standing demand of the SCBA members but the same has not seen the light of day till date. Many members including my own predecessor have even passed away without being allotted a chamber despite being in the seniority of the Chamber Allotment list. Having sailed in the same boat as other members of this bar, he certainly understand the importance of timely allotment of chambers and therefore shall make all endeavours to get the chambers allotted to the respected members at the earliest.

“I promise to put my duties first as the Joint Secretary of SCBA over my personal matters. I am  motivated to work hard, and confident that his efforts will portray my devotion. I am putting that we need to understand that as members of SCBA, we will have to own this Association. It is not about you, or about me. It is about us. It is about us being a family and we will together make it better.”
