MHA Extends Covid Standards Until End Of June, Calls For Intensive Local Measures

The Center on Thursday ordered union states and territories to continue current Covid-19 guidelines until June 30, 2021 and asked them to adopt intensive and local containment measures in districts with a high number of cases to control the spread of deadly disease. In accordance with the guidelines, the Ministry told states to take the necessary measures to ensure sufficient oxygen beds, ICU beds, ventilators, ambulances, including the creation of makeshift hospitals, oxygen, as needed, in addition to sufficient quarantine facilities. However, the Ministry did not mention anything about the imposition of the blockade in any part of the country in the new guidelines issued in light of the pandemic.

The new guidelines for the management of COVID-19 came amid a certain decrease in the daily count of coronavirus cases and improvements in the situation of availability of beds, ICU and oxygen in some parts of the country such as Delhi.

The guidelines issued on April 29, 2021 for the month of May will continue until June 30, 2021.
