Legal Brain behind the TATA AIR India Deal: AZB Partners

The Tata Group’s successful bid for Air India follows almost two years of dogged due diligence and negotiations by the legal team to support the management. A team of nearly 50 people from Tata and Air India, 14 advisors belonging to consultants such as EY, Alvarez and Marsal, RBSA Advisors, along with legal advisor AZB & Partners, pored over the numbers. The past year itself saw close to 50 meetings in an exercise that Tata dubbed Project Alpha.

AZB partners having grown steadily since inception, the firm now has four offices across India and an accomplished and driven team of 430 lawyers committed to delivering best-in-class legal solutions to help clients achieve their objectives. Clients include Fortune 500 entities, MNCs, Investment Banks, PE firms and more.

AZB advised Talace Private Limited and Tata Sons Private Limited in their bid for the acquisition of Air India Limited, including Air India’s shareholding interest in Air India Express Limited and Air India SATS Airport Services Private Limited. They conducted comprehensive legal due diligence on the three entities and also advised on the share purchase agreement.
